Job summary
JLL in Miami, FL seeks an experienced Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse equipment, focusing on conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras, and SCADA devices.
You will lead maintenance activities, mentor apprentices, collaborate with operations, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring safety and documentation adherence.
Qualifications
- 4-year degree or knowledge equivalent to a 4-year degree.
- Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor automation engineers.
- Proficiency in CMMS use and coordinating maintenance with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong English communication, both written and verbal.
- Problem-solving mindset with continuous improvement.
- Flexibility for varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Serve as site technical expert in automation control systems and mentor apprentices.
- Design, develop, implement, and optimize control systems and software; maintain and troubleshoot equipment (PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks).
- Follow documentation and Automation Change Management procedures.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and support teams to optimize MHE systems and deliver projects.
- Monitor metrics, analyze performance issues, and lead remote/local troubleshooting.
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement for performance and cost savings.
- Communicate technical issues, timelines, and workarounds to leadership.
