Job summary
Insight Global is seeking a Controls Engineer to drive advanced automation in a high-volume automotive environment in Michigan. You will program and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs, integrate FANUC and CRX robots, and develop machine vision for inspection and process control.
You will validate safety circuits, support installation and commissioning, and ensure compliance with GM GCCS/GCCH standards while collaborating with manufacturing, controls, quality, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer in automotive/high-volume manufacturing.
- Experience supporting GM facilities or GM standards.
- GCCS/GCCH certification and knowledge of GCCH hardware.
- Strong knowledge of GM controls standards, processes, and line automation.
- Hands-on programming and troubleshooting of PLC-based systems on the plant floor.
- Experience with Siemens Step 7 and/or Rockwell AB PLCs.
- Familiarity with FACS, EtherNet/IP, and industrial protocols.
- Experience commissioning automation equipment and driving improvements.
- Experience with FANUC robots and basic fault recovery.
- Experience with Cognex and/or Keyence vision systems.
