Job summary

Syska Hennessy Group in Chicago is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineering Graduate to join our Engineer Development Program (EDT). You will support senior engineers, learn CAD/REVIT, and contribute to designs for diverse projects across our global practice.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning, collaboration, and professional growth through mentorship, training, and a structured development path. Graduation from a mechanical engineering program is required, with Winter 2026 or

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Mechanical engineering with a graduation date Winter 2026, Spring or Summer of 2027.
  • Knowledge of the latest version of MEP Auto CAD; REVIT experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in design and calculation software; MS Office Suite
  • E.I.T. or FE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create basic designs under the direction of the senior engineer.
  • Learn drawing organization and company standards.
  • Perform CAD/REVIT drafting for a variety of projects and project sizes to begin to understand architectural engineering design and documentation.
  • Coordinate with the designs of other trades (architectural, engineering / internal, and external) under the guidance of more senior technical staff.
  • Support the design and engineering efforts of systems for new installations, system retrofits, system replacement, and system upgrades for a wide variety of projects and project types.
  • Take ownership of completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the work assignments.
  • Assist engineers with field investigations and construction site visits to observe and attend project coordination meetings.
  • Participate and regularly attend the EDT program training sessions and support activities that are part of the EDT program.
  • Attend all other continuing education seminars on technical or professional enhancing topics.
