Job summary

Syska Hennessy Group in Chicago is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineering Graduate to join our Engineer Development Program (EDT). You will support senior engineers, learn CAD/REVIT, and contribute to designs for diverse projects across our global practice.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning, collaboration, and professional growth through mentorship, training, and a structured development path. Graduation from a mechanical engineering program is required, with Winter 2026 or

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Mechanical engineering with a graduation date Winter 2026, Spring or Summer of 2027.
Knowledge of the latest version of MEP Auto CAD; REVIT experience is a plus.
Proficient in design and calculation software; MS Office Suite
E.I.T. or FE preferred.

Responsibilities

Create basic designs under the direction of the senior engineer.
Learn drawing organization and company standards.
Perform CAD/REVIT drafting for a variety of projects and project sizes to begin to understand architectural engineering design and documentation.
Coordinate with the designs of other trades (architectural, engineering / internal, and external) under the guidance of more senior technical staff.
Support the design and engineering efforts of systems for new installations, system retrofits, system replacement, and system upgrades for a wide variety of projects and project types.
Take ownership of completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the work assignments.
Assist engineers with field investigations and construction site visits to observe and attend project coordination meetings.
Participate and regularly attend the EDT program training sessions and support activities that are part of the EDT program.
Attend all other continuing education seminars on technical or professional enhancing topics.
