Job summary

Garmin is seeking a full-time Mechanical Designer 1 at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. You will model basic parts, draft documentation, assist with testing, and support product concepts through to mass production in a team setting.

Responsibilities include CAD modeling with Onshape/SolidWorks, coordinating tests, and maintaining documentation control. A 2-year technical diploma with CAD experience and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a 2-year technical diploma in Mechanical/Manufacturing Eng Tech with good academics.
• Demonstrated CAD modeling ability using industry tools.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide CAD modeling and drafting support for Garmin products.
• Prepare documentation, testing plans, and assemble parts as needed.
• Coordinate basic product testing to verify design requirements.
• Interface with Mechanical/Electrical Engineers and designers.
• Maintain configuration control of production documentation.
