Garmin Ltd. is seeking an Intern - Mechanical Designer at our U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. The role provides CAD modeling, drafting support, documentation, testing, and technical assistance within a collaborative team environment.

Candidates are pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or CAD-focused design and must demonstrate strong academics and communication skills. The internship emphasizes hands-on learning alongside professional engineers and designers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or CAD & Design.
• Excellent academic record (GPA ≥ 3.0).
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support basic mechanical designs for Garmin or OEM products.
• Model basic parts including injection molded, die cast, sheet metal and more.
• Assist with sourcing of components such as connectors, speakers, LCDs, batteries.
• Coordinate basic test plans and assist product testing.
• Interface with Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and designers.
• Maintain configuration control of documentation for products.
• Update designs per feedback and document work clearly.
• Able to present information through reports and meetings.
