Job summary

Tooele County School District is seeking a Junior High School Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher to prepare students for college, careers, and practical life skills at Stansbury Jr. High School.

Responsibilities include curriculum development, differentiated instruction, ongoing assessment, and collaboration with staff and families. Requires Utah teaching license; 187-day schedule; eligible for TCSD benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• Current Utah teaching license or ability to obtain one as outlined by USBE.
• USBE License Level: Associate or Professional; USBE License Area: Secondary Education (6-12); Endorsement in appropriate Science; or willingness to obtain.
• Experience teaching at junior high or middle school level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares students for college and career readiness.
• Develops and administers family and consumer sciences education curriculum consistent with USBE and TCSD goals.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences for efficient use of time.
• Teaches knowledge and skills across Family and Consumer Sciences Education pathways.
• Provides instruction on use and development of machinery, appliances, equipment and tools.
• Prepares instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning.
• Instructs students in use, care, and safe operation of equipment.
• Conducts ongoing assessment and modifies instruction for individual needs, including students with special needs.
• Maintains professional knowledge through seminars/workshops and engagement with business community.
• Organizes and maintains records for grades, attendance, and reporting per district procedures and laws.
• Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures student conduct conforms to school policies and maintains learning environment.
• Coordinates with staff and participates in meetings and committees.
• Uses instructional materials and maintains inventory.
