Job summary

Florida International University’s FSBDC at FIU seeks a Junior Special Events Manager to oversee training and outreach activities for programs serving entrepreneurs in Miami-Dade and the Keys. You will manage trainings, plan outreach, and collaborate with center staff and partners to meet contractual goals.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and strong communication, with occasional evenings and travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in hospitality or event management preferred.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, plan and execute community trainings and webinars, including event close outs and reporting.
• Assist center leadership with annual marketing and outreach plan supporting deliverables and goals.
• Monitor and report on training event performance with recommendations for quality improvements.
• Streamline training/outreach strategies and develop common protocols.
• Collaborate with center consultants on existing and new workshops addressing community needs.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, problem-solving and listening skills.
• Use Salesforce and Blackthorne to create, process and record each training event file per policies.
• Create event materials with Canva and/or Adobe following FIU branding policies.
• Network effectively with prospective clients, small businesses, and economic-development partners.
• Travel throughout Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys as necessary.
• Regularly work evenings for meetings and offsite events.
