Job summary

Niles Enterprises in Michigan is seeking a Takeoff Specialist to support the estimating team by reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documents to quantify labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs. This role prepares accurate quantity takeoffs and assists with preconstruction and bidding, including bid package preparation, organizing bid documents, and gathering pricing from vendors.

This position requires proficiency in Excel and takeoff software (Bluebeam preferred),

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• Experience reading construction drawings and specifications preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with takeoff software (Bluebeam preferred).
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Identify project scope items and assist with bid package preparation.
• Prepare and maintain takeoff reports and estimating documentation.
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to gather pricing information.
• Assist in organizing bid documents, drawings, and project files.
• Support estimators with pre-bid meetings, site visits, and bid submissions.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and project records.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
