Job summary

Niles Industrial Coatings is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our operations team. The Estimator will organize and lead estimating and pre-construction activities for assigned projects, developing relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients to prepare accurate project estimates.

You will work closely with leadership to support bidding, award, and execution, review drawings and specifications, solicit qualified vendors, and manage bid documentation and schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of construction estimating experience.
• Experience with both competitive bid projects and conceptual budgeting.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, industry regulations, and project management practices.
• Understanding of financial practices and accounting principles.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate, manage, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.

Position Summary

The Estimator is responsible for organizing and leading estimating and pre-construction activities for assigned projects. This role develops and maintains relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients while preparing accurate and comprehensive project estimates. The Estimator works closely with leadership and project teams to support successful project bidding, award, and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Bid Development
• Review and analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and project documentation
• Establish and organize bid schedules and deadlines
• Develop project general conditions
• Identify and solicit qualified vendors and subcontractors
• Coordinate and attend pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs
• Identify all bid scope items and requirements
• Prepare invitations to bid and complete bid forms
• Project Setup
• Determine appropriate bid divisions
• Obtain, distribute, and manage project bid documents
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors throughout the bidding process
• Complete quantity take-offs
• Develop preconstruction schedules
• Project Bidding
• Review plans and specifications and request additional information as needed
• Follow up with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure complete bid coverage
• Review and evaluate subcontractor proposals
• Prepare detailed work summaries and bid packages
• Assemble final proposal documents
• Review bid breakdowns and proposals with senior leadership
• Project Award & Handoff
• Finalize and update bid documentation
• Conduct contract reviews
• Prepare project summaries
• Lead Estimator-to-Project Manager handoff meetings
• Support project managers throughout project execution
• Assist with additional projects and assignments as needed
  

Required

• Minimum 3 years of construction estimating experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
