Job summary

Perrone Construction, an established builder in Sarasota, FL, is seeking an Assistant Estimator/Purchaser to support estimating and purchasing from concept through construction.

You will develop cost estimates, perform take-offs, and assist with subcontractor procurement for luxury residential projects, reading plans and specs to maintain cost control and timelines. In-office, full-time role with strong mentoring and growth potential.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in residential construction estimating, purchasing, or related field.
• Or recent graduate with a degree in Construction Management or similar are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing accurate, well-organized cost estimates from plans and specs.

What You'll Do

As an Assistant Estimator/Purchaser, you will support the estimating and purchasing process from concept through construction:

Estimating & Preconstruction

• Assist in developing accurate, well-organized cost estimates
• Perform quantity take-offs from plans and specifications
• Support value engineering efforts through detailed cost comparisons
• Price owner selections, upgrades, and scope changes

Purchasing & Contracts

• Prepare and issue subcontracts and purchase orders
• Solicit, review, and level subcontractor/vendor bids
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with subcontractors and suppliers

Project Support

• Track and manage change orders throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure pricing accuracy and alignment with project budgets
• Collaborate with internal teams to maintain project flow and cost control

What We're Looking For

Core Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in residential construction estimating, purchasing, or related field

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with tools such as Sage 100 Contractor, Procore, Bluebeam, or OnScreen Takeoff
• Experience working with custom or luxury residential projects
• Exposure to subcontractor bidding and procurement processes

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 (commensurate with experience)

Work Environment

• Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Location: 7045 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL

Location Requirement: Candidates must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to Sarasota or Manatee County, FL.
