Job summary

Benderson Development in Sarasota, FL is seeking a Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of commercial estimating experience, preferably with a general contractor or developer, and will handle estimating for new construction and build-outs while coordinating with internal departments.

A four-year Civil Engineering or Construction degree (or equivalent) and strong analytical/communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Develop budgets using historical data, unit pricing, and vendor proposals.
• Review budgets with supervisors and maintain up-to-date unit prices.
• Verify existing conditions and incorporate into budgets.

Summary

Benderson Development is seeking a talented Construction Estimator to join our team in Sarasota. The ideal individual will have commercial estimating experience with civil and/or vertical projects. This position estimates both new construction and build outs and determines the overall costs of a new or existing construction projects. This role will work with in partnership with various internal departments and continue to build a base of subcontractors for the organization.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

• Accurately prepare a detailed cost estimate of all aspects of proposed projects including but not limited to quantity takeoff, detailed cost estimate, line item, and subcontractor summary by division.
• Work with in partnership with various internal departments and continue to build a base of subcontractors for the organization.
• Expedite timely, accurate project cost budgets utilizing historical data, unit pricing, subcontractor/vendor proposals, and methods as discussed with management.
• Obtain, distribute and manage plans or specifications as directed by the supervisor for proposed projects.
• Review the summarized budget with the supervisor.
• Maintain all unit prices and keep current in estimating programs and templates.
• Adjust unit prices in the system as the market adjusts the prices.
• Verify existing conditions of vacancies and incorporate found conditions into budget and estimates.

Qualifications

• Four-year Civil Engineering, Construction, or other Construction Related Degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience is preferred.
• 7+ years of commercial estimating experience required, preferably with a general contractor or developer.
• Analytical and problem-solving mentality
• Team player, self-motivated, gets along well with employees at all levels in the organization.
• Capability to plan, prioritize and multitask with meticulous attention to detail within time constraints.
• Strong and effective written and verbal skills.
