Job summary

Hatch is seeking a dynamic Junior Engineer – Industrial Clean Tech to support the Metals group from our Pittsburgh, PA office. This entry-level role targets recent graduates with relevant engineering skills and offers in-office collaboration with travel to project sites.

You will learn to evaluate process alternatives, analyze data, and help design gas handling and mine ventilation systems, while contributing to cost estimates and technical specifications.

Qualifications

• Roles at this level are filled by recent or soon to be university/college graduates with little or no professional experience but possessing relevant skills.
• Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Responsibilities

• Evaluate process alternatives and equipment/technology selection.
• Analyze existing equipment data to improve throughput and cost.
• Participate in studies and projects in the metals and minerals industry with a focus on gas handling and mine ventilation.
• Perform design calculations, documentation and develop technical specifications for purchase of gas handling and mine ventilation, heating, and cooling equipment.
• Perform data analysis and computer simulation using specialty software.
• Travel and perform on site measurements.
• Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
• Participate in equipment design reviews and plant layout development.
• Provide inputs to capital and operating cost estimates.
• Participate in process hazard reviews (e.g. HAZID/HAZOP).
• Prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Contribute to proposal development and winning work.
• Attend meetings and collaborate with client teams
