Job summary

DLA Piper seeks a junior associate for its Corporate practice across U.S. offices, with preference for San Diego or New York. This role targets experience in energy, infrastructure, and corporate transactions, including M&A, project development, project finance, and joint ventures. Strong drafting and negotiation skills are essential.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of relevant transactional experience, excellent academics, and will work in a hybrid model across offices nationwide.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the applicable jurisdiction.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills with transferable experience.
• Excellent academic credentials from nationally recognized law schools.
• 1–3 years of corporate, energy, or infrastructure transactional experience.
• Familiarity with tax equity financings, transferable tax credits, structured financings, and complex investments is a plus.
• Experience with M&A, project development, project finance, and joint venture transactions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough legal research to support transaction preparation and strategy.
• Draft memos, contracts, and correspondence with high accuracy.
• Assist and manage complex transactions from inception to closing.
• Maintain strong client relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with lawyers and professionals to develop transaction strategies.
• Attend client calls and meetings, negotiations, and related activities.
• Ensure compliance with legal standards and regulations.
• Pursue ongoing training to enhance legal knowledge and technology skills.
• Engage in firm citizenship and pro-bono work initiatives.
