Job summary

Hays Electrical Services in Houston is seeking an Assistant Project Manager I to build foundational PM skills on smaller projects. You will assist with planning, scheduling, and administration, coordinating tasks to align with timelines and budgets.

The role emphasizes communication, accuracy, and teamwork, with exposure to RFIs, submittals, drawings, and client coordination across commercial electrical projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of experience in construction management, project coordination, or related roles.
• Experience with project management software (ProCore, CMIC) and construction documents.
• Ability to prioritize deadlines and maintain accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Manager in the development and execution of document controls (RFIs, submittals, drawings, etc.), project schedules, and logistics plans.
• Read and interpret project drawings, specification, and contracts to define scope.
• Assist with meeting notes, logs, and reporting.
• Coordinate communication with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
• Track materials and deliveries.
• Participate in project meetings and job walks, and support the planning and execution of tasks.
• Provide administrative and coordination support for projects.
• Assist with the management of project budgets and cost tracking to ensure projects are on budgets.
• Help prepare various project reports and executive summaries.
• Maintain various project logs in an accurate and timely manner, including RFI log, change order log, submittal log, safety incident etc.
