Job summary

Citi in Tampa, FL is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel for Markets Contracts Negotiations to provide legal guidance to the Markets Business and lead ISDA and other OTC derivatives contract negotiations. You will manage the full contract lifecycle from drafting to execution, support risk management, and collaborate with global clients and internal teams.

This role requires 0-2 years of relevant experience, a Juris Doctorate, and strong negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in financial services.
• Banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations.
• Knowledge of international laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business.
• Experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills.
• Proven ability to apply sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Bar license in good standing to practice law.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to the Markets Business, participate in strategic initiatives and interpret laws, regulations and industry practices.
• Review constitutional documentation and netting opinions; summarize bespoke provisions and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Cover ISDA contracts and other OTC derivatives negotiations for global clients.
• Analyze proposals to evaluate legal risks and produce documentation.
• Collaborate across lines of business and with external counsel to achieve coordinated outcomes.
• Identify and manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risk with internal teams.
