Job summary

The position requires 0-2 years of relevant experience, a JD or equivalent, and strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills. This role involves coordinating with legal, trading, credit, and tax teams globally.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in financial services.
• Banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations.
• Knowledge of international laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business.
• Experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills.
• Proven ability to apply sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Bar license in good standing to practice law.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to the Markets Business, participate in strategic initiatives, interpret laws and regulations, and advise management on legal matters impacting the business.
• Review constitutional documentation and netting opinions, summarize bespoke provisions, and maintain records of negotiations in legal systems.
• Coordinate with institutional clients and internal counsel, covering ISDA contracts and OTC derivatives negotiations for global clients.
• Evaluate business proposals by analyzing documentation and applying risk appetite against industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate across internal lines of business and with external counsel to achieve coordinated outcomes.
