Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking a Junior Database Administrator to support enterprise databases under senior staff guidance. You will assist with routine administration, monitor health, perform backups, and help with security controls for mission-critical systems.

The role requires a BA/BS and 0–3 years of related experience, with skills in Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. A SECRET clearance and DoD IAT‑II certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 0–3 years of hands-on database administration experience.
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Foundational understanding of database structures, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
• Familiarity with database security, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery concepts.
• Active SECRET security clearance and ability to maintain clearance.
• Security+ or DoD IAT‑II certification.
• U.S. citizenship and willingness to travel <10%.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day administration of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Monitor database health and performance metrics; identify bottlenecks and missing indexes.
• Execute and validate backups/restores; support disaster recovery testing and procedures.
• Implement standard security controls such as user provisioning and RBAC.
• Participate in installation, patching, and minor upgrades across dev/test/prod environments.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues and support database changes for deployments.
• Apply knowledge of normalization, indexing, and query plans to optimize SQL.
