Job summary

Morgan Business Consulting is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to provide data analytics support to a U.S. Navy program office in Arlington, VA.

The role involves transforming raw data into actionable insights, applying data mining, NLP, and ML techniques, and delivering dynamic reports to leadership. The position requires at least 1 year of Navy analytics experience, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to obtain a DOD SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Apply data mining, data modeling, NLP, and ML to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
• Visualize, interpret, and report data findings by creating dynamic data reports.
• Plan internal and external engagements, including meetings, conferences, and events.
• Assist in the development of briefing material and drafting documents per Navy guidelines.
• Coordinate, monitor, and execute data calls and communicate information to government leadership.
• Evaluate operational deficiencies, recommend improvements, and coordinate their implementation.
• Transcribe and summarize meeting minutes and assist in action item closure.
• Assist in scheduling appointments and travel arrangements for government customers.
• Travel domestically and internationally to support MBC and clients and obtain required certifications.

What You’ll Do

The Junior Data Scientist will provide data analytics support to a U.S. Navy program office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.
• Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
• Visualize, interpret, and report data findings by creating dynamic data reports.
• Plan internal and external engagements, including meetings, conferences, and events.
• Assist in the development of briefing material and drafting documents in accordance with Navy Correspondence Manual guidelines.
• Coordinate, monitor, and execute data calls to gather inputs from both internal and external stakeholders. Consolidate and communicate information from data calls to government leadership for further action.
• Evaluate operational deficiencies, recommend improvements, and coordinate their implementation.
• Transcribe and summarize meeting minutes and notes and assist in the preparation and closure of action items.
• Assist in the scheduling of appointments in support of Government customer, the coordination of arrangements for meetings and conferences, and the arrangement of travel reservations and accommodations.
• Travel domestically and internationally, provide in-person support at MBC and client sites, and obtain and maintain professional certifications and security clearances as required by MBC and/or MBC’s clients. These requirements are subject to change without advance notice at the discretion of MBC and MBC’s clients.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience providing data analytics support to U.S. Navy program offices.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
• Eligibility to obtain a DOD SECRET security clearance.
• Associate’s degree in math, science, engineering, or related field from an institution accredited in the United States.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
• Strong verbal and written interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally using a credit card or prepaid debit card as required by MBC and/or clients.
