Job summary

Morgan Business Consulting in the Washington, D.C. area seeks a Mid-Level Data Scientist to support a U.S. Navy program office with data analytics.

You will apply data mining, NLP, and machine learning to large datasets, visualize findings, and prepare briefing materials. You will coordinate data calls with stakeholders and help prepare presentations for leadership. Travel domestically and internationally may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (US-accredited).
  • Experience providing data analytics support to Navy program offices preferred.
  • Ability to develop briefing materials per Navy guidelines.
  • Experience with data mining, data modeling, NLP, and ML a plus.

Job description

We are currently seeking a Mid-Level Data Scientist located in the Washington, D.C. area.

What You’ll Do

The Mid-Level Data Scientist will provide data analytics support to a U.S. Navy program office.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.
  • Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Visualize, interpret, and report data findings by creating dynamic data reports.
  • Plan internal and external engagements, including meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Assist in the development of briefing material and drafting documents in accordance with Navy Correspondence Manual guidelines.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and execute data calls to gather inputs from both internal and external stakeholders. Consolidate and communicate information from data calls to government leadership for further action.
  • Evaluate operational deficiencies, recommend improvements, and coordinate their implementation
  • Transcribe and summarize meeting minutes and notes and assist in the preparation and closure of action items
  • Assist in the scheduling of appointments in support of Government customer, the coordination of arrangements for meetings and conferences, and the arrangement of travel reservations and accommodations
  • Attend meetings and program reviews, assist with compiling presentations, written materials, and/or electronic communications as required
  • Travel domestically and internationally, provide in-person support at MBC and client sites, and obtain and maintain professional certifications and security clearances as required by MBC and/or MBC’s clients. These requirements are subject to change without advance notice at the discretion of MBC and MBC’s clients
Qualifications
  • At least5years of experience providing data analytics support to U.S. Navy program offices
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Eligibility to obtain a DOD SECRET security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in math, science, engineering, or related field from an institution accredited in the United States
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally using a credit card or prepaid debit card as required by MBC and/or clients
