ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking a Junior Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor enterprise security tools, triage alerts, and assist containment under senior guidance. The role emphasizes rapid analysis, documenting findings, and contributing to detection improvements in a federal IT setting.

You will work with SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection, supporting peak workloads in a regulated SOC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/Cybersecurity or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years in cybersecurity, IT operations, or related roles with exposure to security monitoring and incident triage.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts and SOC functions.
• Hands-on familiarity with SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, or vulnerability scanners.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain/maintain clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required to support federal information security requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced SOC environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to review events and identify suspicious patterns.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage and generate well-documented escalation tickets.
• Assist with incident response activities, including evidence gathering and containment support.
• Document investigations with timelines, data sources, actions, and handoffs for audit needs.
• Maintain familiarity with common security technologies and interpret alerts within SOC tools.
• Follow SOC SOPs, playbooks, and reporting formats; contribute to improvements.
• Support tuning of rules, use cases, and dashboards to reduce noise and improve detection.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams to align monitoring with policies.
