Job summary

Amentum’s Advanced Solutions Group seeks an Early Career Controls & Instrumentation Engineer in Farmington Hills, MI or Tullahoma, TN. You will develop wiring diagrams, PLC/HMI software, and interfaces for industrial control systems while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver turnkey solutions.

The role involves on-site work, some travel for commissioning, and working with major clients across defense and energy sectors. US citizenship is required and EIT/FE is preferred.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations.
• ABET-accredited BS in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, or related engineering field is required.
• 0-5 years of experience in control or data acquisition system design, implementation, and commissioning.
• Ability to work as a team member on single and multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver technically successful control and data systems.
• Desire to develop ingenious alternative approaches to challenges, and drive innovation during all phases of projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop hardware assembly and wiring diagrams for SCADA systems.
• Develop control system software designs.
• Develop control system software including PLC programming and HMI development.
• Develop interfaces to facility equipment using MODBUS TCP, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, etc.
• Apply closed loop controls methods to control continuously variable systems.
• Support hardware assembly and fabrication through panel shop testing.
• Perform light installation tasks on-site for commissioning efforts.
• On-site facility startup, checkout, and commissioning activities, both domestically and abroad, under supervision.
• Communicate with clients and management regarding project status.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and departments to ensure success.
• Complete project milestones to ensure project completion within technical scope, budget, and client schedule.
