Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an Entry-Level Engineer to support all aspects of construction projects under supervision. The role reports to a Project Manager or Superintendent and emphasizes coordination with owners, architects, and trades, while helping control costs and schedules.

Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering or construction management, strong reading of blueprints, and proficiency in MS Office; training in scheduling software is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, engineering technology, or construction management.
• Ability to read technical specifications and blueprints.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic project documentation.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes applicable to construction.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Manage estimating and bidding processes and track costs to control the project budget.
• Resolve and clarify design issues and identify field changes and change orders.
• Write contracts and purchase orders using boilerplate language to document work and costs.
• Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
• Ensure work meets quality standards and contract specifications.
• Implement project schedules and track each task toward completion.
• Document the technical, financial and personnel aspects of each project.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals and change orders, and verify progress.
