Job summary

Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an Entry-Level Engineer to support all aspects of construction projects under supervision of a Project Manager and/or Superintendent.

You will coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors, assist with cost tracking and change orders, and help ensure design compliance and project quality across multiple trades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline or construction management.
• Knowledge of engineering principles.
• Knowledge of basic business principles to project and monitor expenses.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors; direct work of trades on site.
• Manage estimating and bidding processes and track costs to control project budget.
• Resolve and clarify design issues.
• Identify and resolve field issues and change orders.
• Write contracts and purchase orders documenting all ordered work, schedules, costs, change orders and specs.
• Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
• Ensure work meets quality standards and contract specifications.
• Implement project schedules for all tasks toward project completion.
• Document the technical, financial and personnel aspects of each project.
• Review project drawings, specifications, submittals and change orders.
• Review each trade’s progress wrt project phase.
• Provide field support to superintendents to ensure contract compliance and quality control.
• Track project phase completion against milestones.
• Set expectations for safe work site operations.
• Document each project phase.
