Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform the basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of CIP Level 2 or 3 inspectors. You will verify surface preparation against SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions and surface profile, and document every coating step on tanks, structural steel, pipe and concrete.

The role requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, current, and at least 1 year in industrial coatings application or inspection.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting/spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against data sheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
