Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. Responsibilities include verifying surface prep per SSPC/NACE, measuring ambient conditions and surface profile, and documenting coating application on tanks, structures, pipe, and concrete.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification (current).
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Experience with tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations preferred.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation against SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet/dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against datasheet.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
