Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions and surface profile, and document each step on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

This role requires an active AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and 1+ year in industrial coatings.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coatings materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life.
• Maintain daily inspection log and photograph each stage.
