Job summary

The Bexar Company is seeking an early-career CAD Designer/Drafter to translate engineering concepts into precise 2D drawings and 3D models. You will collaborate with engineers to produce manufacturing documentation, BOMs, and product drawings based on specifications.

You will use Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, create detailed drawings with views, dimensions, and tolerances, and participate in design reviews and ECNs as your experience grows.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field is a plus.
• 0–5+ years of design/drafting experience.
• Entry-level candidates with strong CAD training will be considered.
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor strongly preferred.
• AutoCAD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Engineering on new and existing projects from initial design through product launch.
• Create precise 2D drawings and 3D models of individual components and assemblies.
• Develop detailed drawings, sketches, and notes that meet engineering design and manufacturing standards.
• Ensure drawings incorporate all necessary views, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications required for manufacturing.
• Create and maintain complete Bills of Materials (BOMs), including material specifications, quantities, and part information.
• Process product and design changes through Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and the internal task system.
• Collaborate closely with Engineers throughout the design and development process.
• Participate in weekly project planning meetings to ensure alignment between CAD/design and Engineering.
• Work on clearly defined design projects and, as experience develops, manage assigned projects with appropriate oversight.
