Job summary

The Carroll School in Massachusetts is seeking a Junior Accountant to join a mission-driven nonprofit community. The role focuses on accounts receivable, cash flow management, and monthly journal entries, with emphasis on accurate financial reporting and compliance.

This is a full-time, on-site position reporting to the Controller. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in accounting (or 5+ years experience with a high school diploma) and are skilled in Excel, Google Sheets, and accounting software,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting with 2+ years accounting experience or high school diploma with 5+ years accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and fund accounting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with accounting and database software; proficient with Excel and Google Sheets.
Interest in working in a mission-led organization and respect for the School's vision.

Responsibilities

Handles accounts receivable duties including tuition invoicing and collection communications.
Assists with month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Supports annual budget preparation with administrators and department heads.
Supports audits (financial & 403b) and interacts with auditors.
Acts on routine accounting and administrative tasks to keep the office running smoothly.
