Job summary

Carroll School located in Massachusetts seeks a Junior Accountant to handle accounts receivable, tuition invoicing, and cash flow management. The role reports to the Controller and supports monthly closings, audits, and budget processes.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2+ years’ accounting experience or 5+ years with a high school diploma. Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred; strong Excel/Google Sheets skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting with 2+ years accounting experience OR
• High School diploma with 5+ years accounting experience
• Experience in nonprofit or school accounting preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficient with Excel and Google Sheets

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable and tuition invoicing for families
• Process deposits and record weekly checks and monthly electronic payments
• Reconcile AR accounts (tuition, after-school, programs)
• Pull aging AR reports and send collection emails
• Reconcile and track donations; work with Advancement
• Prepare gift schedules for audits and 990 form support
• Provide cash receipts support for audits and accounting records
• Support month-end closing and budget preparation
• Assist with annual audits (financial & 403b) and auditor coordination
• Review invoices and reimbursements; ensure documentation
