Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is hiring Journeyworker Lineworkers to build, maintain and restore electric power systems across Ohio. Travel across multiple locations with outdoor work in all weather, require successful completion of an apprenticeship and/or IBEW program.

Positions involve climbing poles, testing, splicing, and operating power equipment while adhering to safety programs and OSHA requirements. Employment includes extensive training and potential relocation within the service territory.

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship or equivalent documentation.
• Valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Pass DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Travel to job locations within assigned region.
• Review job work requirements and input for daily work.
• Load/unload tools and materials at crew HQ and job sites.
• Climb poles; install and test poles and cross-arms.
• Operate equipment and perform power line maintenance and repairs.
• Take voltage readings and troubleshoot outages.
• Work in confined spaces, trenches, and at heights up to 35 feet.
