FirstEnergy Corp. seeks qualified Journeyworker Lineworker candidates for our Ohio Edison operations based in Sandusky, OH. The role involves building and maintaining electric power systems, climbing poles, and restoring service for commercial and residential customers.

Openings emphasize adherence to IBEW guidelines, DOT screening, and a union apprenticeship background. The position requires travel within the service territory, outdoor work in all weather, and readiness to work extended hours

Qualifications

• Completion of a federal or state sanctioned line worker apprenticeship with approved documentation.
• Must possess a valid Class A driving permit by first day of employment.
• Must pass a DMV medical exam by first day of employment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to wear company PPE.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Travel to various job locations within region.
• Review job work requirements and provide input for daily work.
• Load/unload tools and materials at crew HQ and job sites.
• Climb poles and work on elevated structures.
• Install/terminate cables and set poles.
• Test and energize components; take voltage readings.
• Perform safety procedures and follow PPE guidelines.
• Assist in back-up leadership and supervise apprentices.
