Mortenson Construction is seeking an Ironworker Journeyman to mark, position, and secure structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures. This role requires safety-focused execution on active job sites.

You will interpret blueprints, set up cranes, count rebar, install ties and splices, and assist with erection rigging. Our teams value reliability, teamwork, and adherence to project schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum three (3) years of related experience.
• Must have passed the Apprentice Aptitude Test.
• Ability to read and interpret safety regulations and manuals; basic math skills.
• Teamwork, communication, and safety-conscious attitude.
• Lift/carry up to 50 lbs; teamwork with others for heavier loads.

Responsibilities

• Set up, flag, and inspect a crane; inspect rigging.
• Run a site level; check in truck deliveries against bill of lading.
• Count bars and bundles of rebar; direct forklift/crane for unloading.
• Shake out rebar; tie intersections with tie wire.
• Splice bars; cut excess ends with saw or torch.
• Install rebar splices; install safety caps on dowels.
• Determine size/location of reinforcing rods from blueprints; bend steel.
• Reinforce concrete with wire mesh; install ornamental ironwork.
• Receive/offload major components; install for nacelle/tower prep.
• Connect blades to hub; set base/tower sections; handle taglines.
• Assist with crane assembly/teardown; climb ladders (~80m).
• Build relationships with diverse teams; perform other duties as assigned.
