Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a Mechanic I Journeyman - HVAC - Maintenance to maintain heating and air conditioning systems across school facilities. The position requires preventive maintenance, timely repairs, and compliance with safety protocols.

You will work from work orders, coordinate with site personnel, and support shop operations. The role offers a full-time schedule (40 hours/week) with competitive benefits including health, life insurance, retirement matching, and paid leave.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• Valid Arizona driver's license or ability to obtain.
• Minimum three years journey mechanic training or equivalent experience with evaporative cooling units and air handling equipment.
• Preferred related trade school training.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance across district HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair cafeteria equipment and related devices.
• Communicate equipment status to site-based personnel and supervisor.
• Maintain service vehicle in clean, stocked condition and complete paperwork promptly.
• Attend to overtime and non-regular hours as needed.
• Assist HVAC shop operations and perform other duties as assigned.
