Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a skilled Mechanic I Journeyman - HVAC for full-time maintenance duties. Immediate start with a base hourly rate of $21.01 and benefits including vacation and health insurance. Expect travel within the district, adherence to safety protocols, and annual performance pay.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnosing HVAC issues, reading schematics/blueprints, and collaborating with site staff to ensure reliable climate control in facilities.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• Valid AZ driver’s license or ability to obtain.
• Minimum three years journey mechanic training or equivalent experience with evaporative cooling units and air handling equipment
• Trade school training preferred (related)

Responsibilities

• Work from a written work order to perform preventive maintenance across district sites.
• Troubleshoot and repair cafeteria equipment and related devices.
• Communicate equipment status to site personnel and supervisor.
• Keep the vehicle clean, stocked, and paperwork up to date.
• Work overtime and non-regular hours as needed.
• Assist in maintaining the HVAC shop and tools.
• Collaborate with Mesa Public Schools staff as appropriate.
