Job summary

Yakima County is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Specialist. The role focuses on skilled HVAC and electrical work, diagnosing and repairing systems across county facilities to keep buildings safe and efficient.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and 5 years in building maintenance with 2 years in HVAC/electrical repair at journey level; valid HVAC/R and EPA 608/609 certifications or WA Journeyman Electrician license; WA driver’s license and insurance if requested.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required and 5 years’ experience in building maintenance including 2 years in HVAC or electrical repair at journey level.
Valid HVAC/R Specialty Electrical License and EPA 608, 609 refrigerant certifications OR Washington State Journeyman Electrician License.
Valid WA Driver’s License and proof of insurance if requested.

Responsibilities

Repair, test, modify and install HVAC components and systems in County facilities.
Monitor HVAC performance and energy use; manage control systems and energy savings.
Program DDC computers and maintain energy controller networks across buildings.
Perform electrical system maintenance and repair in county buildings.
Lead maintenance projects: vendor coordination, cost estimates, safety and codes impact.
