Job summary

Yakima County is hiring a Journeyman Facilities Maintenance Specialist to perform skilled HVAC, electrical, and building maintenance tasks in County facilities. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing HVAC systems, energy controls, and related electrical infrastructure.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 5 years of maintenance experience with two years in HVAC or electrical work at the journey level, and relevant licenses/certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years building maintenance experience with 2 years HVAC or electrical at journeyman level.
• HVAC/R license and EPA refrigerant certs required OR Journeyman Electrician license.
• Valid WA driver's license; background and driving checks will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, tests, modifies and installs HVAC components and systems.
• Monitors HVAC performance; maintains control systems and energy efficiency.
• Programs DDC computers and integrates energy management networks.
• Produces trend logs; conducts inspections and maintenance planning.
• Participates in vendor meetings and project estimates; supports staff training.
• Maintains electrical systems in county buildings; installs and repairs wiring and panels.
