Job summary

Kiewit Corporation in Port Arthur, TX is seeking an experienced equipment operator to perform maintenance and repair on roads and rights‑of‑way. You will operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment, load materials, grade surfaces, and assist in trenching and installing pipes.

Safety, communication, and adherence to procedures are essential. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to follow written and oral instructions, and proficiency with hand and power

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with previous field experience.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions; communicate effectively with supervision.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment to maintain roads and rights‑of‑way, including loading, hauling and dumping on rough surfaces.
Load gravel, dirt and sand; grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
Trench and construct ditches for culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication for equipment.
Instruct and train employees in safe operation and techniques.
