Job summary

Kiewit Corporation in Fort Worth, TX seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to maintain and build roads and rights‑of‑way. You will operate a variety of vehicles and large equipment, load gravel and dirt, grade surfaces and assist with trenching for pipes.

The job requires physical fitness, ability to work outdoors in all weather, overtime and weekend work as workload dictates, and strict adherence to safety and project rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant field experience.
• Working knowledge of position-specific skills and abilities.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate with supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and large equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights‑of‑way.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for installation of culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes.
• Check and maintain all fluid levels and lubrication.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of defects.
