Job summary

Amteck is seeking a Journeyman Electrician 1 to work under a Foreman or Superintendent and potentially oversee a small crew. The role involves installation, alteration and repair of electrical systems, conductors, and equipment, with opportunities to learn low voltage, controls, process work, and fire alarm within Amteck's divisions.

You will perform conduit work, install devices, read blueprints, lay out work, and mentor helpers on site, with overtime possible.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience performing electrical construction in commercial and/or industrial environments.
• Owns and uses tools required by company policy.
• Demonstrate the Amteck Way in daily work activities, behavior and decision making.
• Able to work project schedules including weekends and overtime.
• Has an interest and aptitude to learn job-related material through on-the-job instruction and observation.
• Demonstrate a team-player mentality by listening and understanding directions, working cooperatively with others, and working safely.
• Possess basic mechanical aptitude, basic mathematical ability, and the ability to read basic construction documents used daily.
• Willingness to participate in field training (OJT, classroom, or virtual).

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring devices and hand tools.
• Install and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panel boards, and feeder conductors.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of circuiting.
• Read and understand project specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
• Lay out small areas of work from drawings and project documents, including underground layout.
• Determine wire, conduit, and junction box sizing.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of lighting and general power circuits.
• Lead and mentor Helpers and Apprentices on the job site.
