Job Opening: Fleet - Truck Jockey
  1. Number of Openings: One (1)
  2. Base Rate/Hour: $29.73 (Trip Rate if Subbing as a Driver)
  3. Hours: Typically 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., varies with production schedule. Overtime may be required. Start and end times are flexible based on business needs.
Job Description

The Truck Jockey, supervised by a Fleet Supervisor, is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of tractor trailers in the yard and substituting for fleet drivers when needed. The role also involves handling finished products safely and efficiently.

  • Operate equipment such as tractor/trailer trucks, forklifts, floor jacks, and pallet jacks safely and knowledgeably.
  • Drive tractor/trailer trucks to and from shipping and receiving areas; may drive routes and substitute for fleet drivers.
  • Perform DOT and company safety inspections, maintain logs, and keep records.
  • Maintain dock areas, including sweeping, debris removal, snow/ice removal, and inspecting dock equipment.
  • Inspect trailer loads for proper security, affix trailer seals, and correct discrepancies.
  • Follow safety and hygiene guidelines, keep work areas clean, and report injuries or defective equipment.
  • Assist with inventory and order management, place paperwork on trailers, and transfer products as needed.
  • Perform housekeeping duties and light maintenance.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure proper storage, safety, and cleanliness of equipment.
  • Maintain a valid driver license with a good record.
  • Work as part of a team to cover absences and vacations.
  • Keep dock areas clean and organized.
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of production experience in manufacturing.

Licenses and Certifications
  • CLD Class A Driver's license
  • DOT Medical Card
  • Ability to pass driving tests and DOT checks

Based on ability to perform essential functions, attendance, safety, disciplinary record, work quality, peer relationships, and experience. Seniority and qualifications are considered. The position is awarded to the most senior qualified candidate who passes all requirements.
