Job description

We are hiring immediately for Jockey Drivers to join our team working at the Industrial Rd Norfolk Southern Railyard in Harrisburg, PA in a recession-proof industry! This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training. We'll teach you everything you need to know to be successful on the job. No experience is required. The job is a combination of a Hostler Driver and Ground Person as they are one and the same job.

Responsibilities:

• A Hostler and a Jockey are the same thing.
• Drive a jockey truck moving 53ft trailers, containers, and chassis around the yard.
• Complete various Groundperson duties, climbing on and off railcars, locking and unlocking tracks, putting in and taking out inner box connectors (IBC's).
• Assist packer operators in loading and unloading the equipment using hand signals.
• Assist in the process of stacking and unstacking chassis as well as loading and unloading chassis racks.
• Other assigned duties.

Compensation:

• $19.50/hr (overtime rate is $29.25)
• 2 raises each in your 1st and 2nd year, 1 raise yearly after year 3.
• Potential to earn $55,000 - $70,000 annually in hourly pay with overtime.

Shifts:
There are 2 shift types you have the option to choose from:

• 4 days a week working up to 12 hours a day with 3 days off or,
• 5 days a week working up to 12 hours a day with 2 days off. (After a 60-day probationary period, you could also be required to work a mandatory 8 hr 6th day if you choose this option)

We're hiring for the following shift:

• 5:00 PM Shift

Qualifications: (NO JOCKEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)

• Be at least 18 years old & have a valid Driver's License.
• Pass a 7-year background check. (Felonies in the last 7 years, jail time, parole, or probation in the last 5 years could disqualify applicants)
• Pass a drug test & a Physical Capabilities Test.
• No GED or diploma required.
• Strong communication skills required.

APPLICANTS MUST currently live within a 45-minute commute of Harrisburg, PA. OUT OF AREA candidates and/or those requiring relocation will NOT be considered.
