Job summary

Capac Community Schools is seeking a part-time Head Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 season. The role reports to the Athletic Director/Dean of Students and is based at the Capac High School program, with duties spanning off-season to pre-season preparation and community engagement.

The ideal candidate will possess coaching experience, strong communication skills, and a proven ability to mentor student-athletes while promoting school spirit within Capac’s community.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Supervisory and sports management experience.
• Clear criminal history check, physical, and drug test required; first aid training.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Head coach is the face of the program and a representative of Capac community.
• Dynamic personality who will engage the Capac community.
• Maintain open communication with parents, student-athletes, and the community.
• Ability to teach fundamental basketball skills and team concepts.
• Plan, organize, and execute off-season, summer, and pre-season training; knowledge of conditioning.
• Interact with student-athletes of different ages and abilities professionally.
• Motivate, guide, and mentor student-athletes and assistant coaches.
• Promote school spirit and collaborate with staff, students, and parents.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• Candidate should demonstrate a high degree of integrity as the Head Coach is the face of the program and a representative of the entire Capac community.
• Dynamic personality who will get the entire Capac community involved.
• Maintain an open line of communication with parents, student-athletes, and the community, and provide appropriate information.
• Ability to teach fundamental skills and team concepts of basketball.
• Plan, organize, and execute off-season, summer, and pre-season training and preparation programs. Knowledge of strength and conditioning practices.
• Ability to interact with student-athletes of different ages and abilities in a positive and professional manner promoting character and integrity.
• Motivate, guide, and mentor student-athletes and assistant coaches.
• Must promote school spirit.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the staff, students, and parents.
• Performs other functions and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
