Job summary

Capac Community Schools in Michigan is seeking a Varsity Girls Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. This part‑time position in the High School department reports to the Athletic Director/Dean of Students and begins in the 2026-2027 season.

The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity as the face of the program, maintain open communication with parents and student‑athletes, teach fundamental basketball skills and team concepts, plan training programs, and coordinate equipment

Qualifications

• Previous varsity/head coaching experience preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Supervisory and sports management experience.
• Clear criminal history check, physical, and drug test required; first aid training.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications, as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an open line of communication with parents, student-athletes, and the community, and provide appropriate information.
• Teach fundamental skills and team concepts of basketball.
• Plan, organize, and execute off-season, summer, and pre-season training and preparation programs.
• Interact with student-athletes of different ages and abilities in a positive and professional manner.
• Motivate, guide, and mentor student-athletes and assistant coaches.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
• Works closely with the Athletic Director in scheduling contests.
• Responsible for equipment maintenance and inventory.
• Carry out work in accordance with all District procedures and Board policies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all staff, students, and parents.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, extensive walking, twisting, talking, seeing, and hearing. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same body, hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Candidate should demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as the Head Coach is the face of the program and a representative of the entire Capac community.
• Maintain an open line of communication with parents, student-athletes, and the community, and provide appropriate information.
• Ability to teach fundamental skills and team concepts of basketball.
• Plan, organize, and execute off-season, summer, and pre-season training and preparation programs. Knowledge of strength and conditioning practices.
• Ability to interact with student-athletes of different ages and abilities in a positive and professional manner, promoting character and integrity.
• Motivate, guide, and mentor student-athletes and assistant coaches. Must promote school spirit.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
• Upholds performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in this sport and criteria for eligibility in competition.
• Communicates with athletes using Remind or Final Form platforms.
• Works closely with the Athletic Director in scheduling contests.
• Responsible for equipment maintenance and inventory.
• Carries out work in accordance with and in compliance with all District procedures and Board policies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the staff, students, and parents.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing,extensivewalking, twisting,talking, seeing, and hearing. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the samebody,hand, arm,or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Performs other functions and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
