Job summary

Capac Community Schools is seeking a part-time JV Boys Basketball Assistant Coach for Capac Jr.-Sr. High School in Capac, Michigan. The position is tied to the 2026-27 season and reports to the Athletic Director/Dean of Students.

Salary is per CEA Contract, with a start date at the beginning of the 2026-2027 season. The ideal candidate has prior coaching experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with staff, students, parents, and community members.

Qualifications

• Previous Coaching experience is preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Supervisory and sports management experience.
• Clear criminal history check, physical, and drug test required; first aid training.
• Alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Maintains accurate statistics, records, and results of the season as directed by the Head Coach.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
• Upholds performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in this sport and criteria for eligibility in competition.
• Motivates, guides, and mentors student-athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the staff, students, parents, and community members.
• Communicates with athletes using Remind or Final Form platforms as directed by Head Coach.
• Responsible for equipment maintenance and inventory under the direction of the Head Coach.
• Carries out work in accordance with and in compliance with all District procedures and Board policies.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, talking, seeing, and hearing. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs., such as boxes of books.
• Performs other functions and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
