Job summary

Xcellent Technology Solutions, Inc. (XTS) is hiring an Applications Engineer to bolster USGS National Geospatial Tech Operations Center public-facing applications.

You’ll work on existing code, improve functionality, present data effectively, troubleshoot issues, and streamline data movement in cloud-based workflows using AWS. Proficiency in JavaScript, AWS SDK/CLI, and fundamentals of software engineering will help you design scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in CS/SE/IT or related field + 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and maintainable code.
• Hands-on experience with AWS SDK and AWS CLI; familiarity with Lambda, S3, EC2.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: version control, debugging, testing, algorithms, and data structures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support USGS National Geospatial Technical Operations Center public-facing applications and related cloud environments.
• Enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot existing applications; improve data presentation and data workflows.
• Collaborate within a technical team to design scalable, efficient solutions and automate cloud-based processes.
