Job summary

XTS in the United States is seeking an Applications Engineer to support the USGS National Geospatial Technical Operations Center. You will work on public-facing applications, enhance data presentation, troubleshoot issues, and help move information efficiently through the cloud environment.

You'll use JavaScript at the core, with AWS-based workflows to automate data processing, test solutions, and improve code quality for maintainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and understanding of clean, maintainable code.
• Hands-on experience with AWS SDK and AWS CLI; familiarity with Lambda, S3, and EC2.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals (version control, debugging, testing, algorithms, data structures).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain public-facing applications for the USGS National Map.
• Collaborate to improve functionality and data presentation, troubleshoot issues.
• Help move information through AWS-based cloud workflows and automate processing.
• Contribute to scalable and maintainable code, review others’ code.
