Citigroup Inc. in Rutherford, New Jersey is seeking a Java 17+ Application Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend Java applications within the Stress Testing Team.

You will drive technical architecture, ensure code quality, and deliver scalable solutions for risk and finance computations. The role requires hands-on leadership, mentoring engineers, and collaboration with Risk, Finance, and Front Office stakeholders to meet regulatory requirements and improve software

Qualifications

• 6+ years of industry experience in engineering management or lead roles.
• BS or MS in STEM or Finance disciplines.
• Experience with relational and document databases, data structures, caching and reporting.
• Develop enterprise‑grade applications using Java 17/JEE, NoSQL, Spring, and other tools.
• Track record mentoring junior and senior engineers across time zones.
• Proficient with large and complex code bases and data‑driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams supporting multiple systems with ownership and customer focus.
• Set up and maintain processes enabling rapid team delivery; perform architecture reviews.
• Own and drive multiple critical work streams with measurable outcomes.
• Establish and drive adoption of design and coding best practices.
• Collaborate with Risk, Finance, Front Office, and regulators to deliver projects across the Capital spectrum.
• Mentor engineers and improve software engineering practices.
