Citigroup Inc. is seeking a hands-on Principal Engineer to design, build, and evolve high-quality software products at global scale. You will mentor engineers, promote technical excellence, and contribute across multiple teams.

The role involves full-stack Java development, cloud-native practice, and active participation in agile delivery. You will influence architecture, guide technical decisions, and ensure scalable, maintainable solutions that meet business goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience building production-grade applications in Java.
• Cloud-native development with Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift across multiple years.
• Designing microservices, RESTful APIs, and GraphQL.
• Strong Java frameworks: Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, Vert.x.
• Unit testing, automation, design patterns, peer reviews as core practices.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Tekton, Harness, CircleCI, Jenkins) and cloud/on-prem environments.
• Experience in agile delivery and Scrum practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and build full-stack features using Java across multiple agile teams.
• Define and evolve system architecture to be scalable and resilient.
• Deliver against sprint commitments; participate in planning, code reviews, and ceremonies.
• Provide technical guidance and ship high-quality software.
