Abbott is a global healthcare leader shaping diagnostics, medical devices, and nutritionals. Abbott Cancer Diagnostics seeks an Engineer II to design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based software within cross-functional agile teams, delivering high-quality solutions that support earlier cancer detection and guidance.

You will work on scalable features, participate in architecture discussions, and collaborate with product managers, QA, DevOps, and other engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
Solid object-oriented programming experience, preferably in Java.
Experience with RESTful APIs, gRPC, SOAP, and messaging systems.
Proficient in PostgreSQL with ORM (JPA/Hibernate).
Cloud-based API solutions on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience in Scrum/Agile with Jira and Confluence.
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Java-based applications of moderate to high complexity.
Design, develop, and test scalable features and services with minimal supervision.
Participate in architectural discussions and evaluate design options.
Communicate progress, challenges, and risks to stakeholders and leadership.
Collaborate with product managers, QA, DevOps, and teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Follow and improve development processes aligned with QMS and engineering standards.
Assist deployments and provide production support, including some night/weekend availability.
