Job summary

Abbott Cancer Diagnostics is seeking an Engineer II to design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based software components of moderate complexity. You will work with cross-functional teams in an agile environment to deliver scalable features and services.

Responsibilities include debugging, architectural input, and ensuring quality aligned with our QMS. Occasional night/weekend support may be required as part of production readiness and deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
• 4+ years of professional software development
• Strong Java experience; clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices and messaging systems.
• Relational DBs (PostgreSQL) with ORM (JPA/Hibernate).
• Cloud-native API solutions on AWS/GCP/Azure.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications of moderate to high complexity.
• Design scalable features and services with minimal supervision.
• Investigate and resolve complex bugs and performance issues.
• Participate in architectural discussions and evaluate design alternatives.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and risks to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps and other teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Assist deployments and provide production support as needed.
